Jesus, to win Thyself so fair,
Thy cross I will with gladness bear:
Since so the rules of heaven ordain,
The first I’ll wed the next to gain.
I seek Thee now, Beloved One,
Of man the Lord, of God the Son;
My gaze is fixed on Thee alone,
‘Til last I bow before Thy throne.
The painful paths on earth I tread
Can not compare to the Lord I’ll wed,
Who through sore anguish, night, and cold
Sought His own bride with love untold.
My soul obtained by Thy device;
My sin the cost – Thy blood the price;
This love will for all ages stand,
Begun on earth, fulfilled in heav’n.
